Music Director of Golden Spirit Children’s Choirs

Are you interested in helping Kansas City’s children have the chance to sing and be heard? Golden Spirit Children’s Choirs, a new nonprofit children’s choir organization here in Kansas City is hiring our first music director.  Golden Spirit uses a unique curriculum written by Erin Keller, Katie Jones, and Tyra Prosser, which incorporates a music director, social worker, and accompanist facilitating a curriculum which not only focuses on music learning objectives, but also social emotional learning objectives, and poetry learning objectives. This happens 2 days a week for 2 hours each time. Erin Keller will be there to help mentor and observe as the curriculum will be a work in progress, needing to adapt to how the children respond to it in reality. There is a year’s worth of lessons written, but there is no telling how it will actually work in real life. Golden Spirit is partnering with Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City and will be assigned to one of their locations in the metro. Applicants are responsible for their transportation to and from the location chosen, wherever it is.

REQUIREMENTS

Availability Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-5:30 plus extra time after class to meet with Erin and the social worker to make sure everybody is ready for the next class. Each class pays $150.
